Zojoji Pagoda and Akabane
Date: 1857, 1st month
Zôjôji Pagoda and Akabane. Bird’s eye view of the top level of the famous pagoda, part of the official temple of the Tokugawa regime and burial site of the second shogun Hidetada. Our eye is drawn to the fire tower on the left, the highest in Edo, and the delicate orange cloud behind it. We also see Akabane Bridge spanning the Furukawa River.
