Saitô Kuranosuke Toshimitsu
Date: c. 1848
Saitô Kuranosuke Toshimitsu on his final, fatal journey to avenge his lord. He may be using his traveling hat to hide his face from his pursuers or to block the wind for a better look. We can feel how he is bracing his body against the blowing wind and can see the gusts done very effectively in soft blue brushstrokes in the background. The changing color of his robe is also very beautifully printed.
