Hasui’s only bijgin-ga. A young woman adjusts her coiffure; perhaps she is about to enter the summer of her youth. The round Watanabe seal was used until 1925; this is an early impression from the first edition. For the later edition the date above the signature was removed and the title lower left was abbreviated. The outlines of her face and hand are done with red instead of black or grey, which is highly unusual and quite experimental here. The background is done with a combination of yellow pigment and silver mica.
